Continued Waiver of Member Cost-Share for Telehealth Services and COVID-19 Treatment for Fully Insured Members

Audience: Professional Providers and Hospitals

We realize that many of our members may be struggling financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, although some New York state emergency regulations and the New York State of Emergency have recently expired, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has made the business decision to continue waiving member cost-share for all covered telehealth services through December 31, 2021 for our fully insured members.

In addition, we will continue to waive member cost-share for COVID-19 treatment for our fully insured members through at least September 30, 2021.

It’s important to note that self-funded groups may have different cost-share waiver arrangements for telehealth services and COVID-19 treatment, so please check member coverage before each visit to determine member cost-share responsibility.

We will follow the coverage guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services related to temporary coverage of telehealth services/codes which were added as a contingency during the pandemic.

If you have any questions, please contact your Provider Relations representative.

Thank you for your continued commitment to providing quality care to our valued members.
