Authorization Clarification for BH HCBS Individuals Transitioning to CORE Services Between February 1, 2022 and May 2, 2022

Audience: Participating Providers and Facilities

Beginning February 1, 2022, the following select adult Behavioral Health Home and Community-Based Services (BH HCBS) will be transitioning to Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment Services (CORE) for HARP-enrolled individuals who meet eligibility requirements.

  • Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST)
  • Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)
  • Family Support and Training (FST)
  • Empowerment Services – Peer Support (Peer Support)

The Health Plan is extending all BH HCBS service authorizations for CPST, PSR, FST and peer support which would have expired between February 1, 2022 and May 2, 2022. Authorization notifications will be mailed to your agency for these members currently enrolled in your BH HCBS.

For newly engaged members receiving CORE services beginning February 1, 2022, providers are encouraged to submit the “CORE Services Initiation Notification Form” to Excellus BCBS by utilizing the SDS provider portal:
