CareAdvance Provider® Preauthorization Tool Reminder and Tips

Audience: All Providers

We remind you that our new CareAdvance Provider online authorization tool should now be used when requesting preauthorization for our Safety Net members. This includes Medicaid Managed Care (HMOBlue Option, Blue Choice Option, Premier Option), Child Health Plus and Premier Child Health Plus, HARP (Blue Option Plus, Premier Option Plus) and Essential Plan members.

Access information on this new tool by clicking on the Authorizations box and select the Request Authorization tab.  Then, click on the drop-down arrow and choose the service type to locate the appropriate CareAdvance navigation guide, WebEx and tip sheet.

Helpful Tips

  • “No matching records found. Try your search again.”  This error message will display if you do not have authorizations entered into the system. Once you enter your first authorization request, the error message will no longer display.

  • “You have no associated provider sets.” If you receive this error message, please email your web username and individual NPI to CAPAdministrator@excellus.com and we will update the system. There is approximately a one-hour delay for the system update.

  • If you do not see the provider you are searching for in the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the CareAdvance Provider screen, email your web username and individual NPI to CAPAdministrator@excellus.com and we will update the system. There is approximately a one-hour delay for the system update.
